Retta joined Alpine Special Treatment Center, Inc. in 2015. She has over 10 years of mental health and art therapy experience including expertise in providing services to a wide variety of client populations, aimed at supporting empowerment, recovery, and the development of functional support systems. Some key populations Retta has worked with have included inner-city youth, individuals with eating disorders, Native American youth, those suffering from trauma, severe mental illness, autism, and more.
As the Activities Coordinator, Retta’s responsibilities include implementing and overseeing the activities program aimed at meeting the needs of the programs at Alpine Special Treatment Center, Inc. by providing and coordinating activities, monitoring therapeutic effectiveness of activities, community relationships, and encouraging socialization and motivating interest and participation of clients daily.
Before serving as the Activities Coordinator, Retta worked as an Individual and Family Therapist in Oregon, and an Art Therapist/Artistic Behavioral Health Specialist in Arizona, California, Missouri, and New Jersey.
Retta received an Associate of Arts degree from Longview Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), and a Master of Science degree in Art Therapy and Counseling Psychology from Avila University. Retta is currently registered and board-certified as an Art Therapist holding the highest-level art therapy credential. She also serves on the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Southern California Art Therapy Association
