Starbucks Digital & Marketing Director at Alshaya Group

Murat Buyurgan has a diverse work experience that spans over several industries and roles. Murat began their career as a Project Coordinator at MİM Design and Construction Comp in 1994. Murat then worked as a Project Manager at Zoom TPU Design and Interior Design from 1998 to 1999.

In 1999, they joined MANGO as an Internal Control Area Supervisor, responsible for corporate stores, outlets, and franchises in multiple countries. Murat oversaw store merchandising, launching, and sales to ensure brand consistency and operating standards.

In 2002, Murat joined Levi Strauss & Co. as a Product Manager, where they reported to the Merchandising and Marketing Director. Murat was responsible for line selection and marketing of Levi's® and Dockers® brands in Turkey, Middle East, and Israel markets. Murat also played a key role in expanding the retail distribution network.

From 2007 to 2019, they worked at Fiba Perakende Grubu in several roles. Murat started as Deputy General Manager for Gap Mağazacılık A.Ş. after Fiba Holding acquired Gap and Banana Republic Turkey franchise rights. Murat was responsible for launching and developing the brands, as well as managing sales operations, stores, e-commerce, marketing, store design, and visual merchandising.

Murat later became the General Manager for Gap Mağazacılık A.Ş, overseeing the operations of Gap and Banana Republic stores in Turkey. In their last role at Fiba Perakende Grubu, they served as the Chief Retail Officer for Marka Mağazacılık A.Ş., responsible for franchise retail operations of Marks & Spencer, Gap, and Banana Republic in Turkey. Murat managed a large team and was accountable for sales, store operations, marketing, e-commerce, CRM, and retail growth.

In 2019, Murat joined The Orbit Consulting as the Managing Director, a role they held until 2020.

Currently, they work at Alshaya Group as the Starbucks Head of Category, Marketing & CRM, and starting from 2023, they will take on the role of Starbucks Digital & Marketing Director.

Murat Buyurgan completed their education in a logical chronological progression. Murat first attended Kadikoy Anadolu Lisesi from 1983 to 1990, where they studied literature. Following this, from 1990 to 1994, Murat obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in American Literature from Ankara University. Finally, in 1994 to 1995, they pursued an MBA degree at Ankara Universitesi in the field of Avrupa Toplulugu Arastirmalari (European Union studies).
