Richard Farquhar

Richard Farquhar is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the automotive and energy sectors. Currently serving as Managing Director for the Africa & India Region at ALSO since June 2025, Richard previously held key roles at Rivian from August 2018 to June 2025, including Senior Vice President of Future R&D and Vice President of Propulsion. In these capacities, Richard was instrumental in developing strategies and leading teams for advanced propulsion, charging, and energy technologies. Prior to Rivian, Richard spent over 14 years at McLaren Automotive Ltd in various engineering leadership roles and began the career at Group Lotus plc, where responsibilities included project management and engine design. Richard holds a Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering from Queen's University Belfast and furthered education at Cambridge Judge Business School.
