Tao Zhang

Senior Scientist at ALSTEM

Tao Zhang has been working in the scientific field since 1988. Tao began their career as a Lecturer and Dean Assistant at the Wuxi Institute of Light Industry. In 2001, they became a Visiting Scholar at The University of British Columbia. From 2002 to 2006, they worked as a Research Associate at the Genome Institute of Singapore, where they conducted metagenomics for viral and microbial pathogen surveillance, human cancer gene regulation network, and SARS genome sequencing. Tao then moved to the Joint Genome Institute as a Research Scientist from 2006 to 2012. Afterwards, they worked as a Senior Scientist at Illumina, Inc. from 2012 to 2013 and at HistoGenetics, LLC from 2013 to 2015. Tao then served as a Senior Applications Scientist at Natera, Inc. from 2015 to 2018 before becoming a Group Lead at DiaCarta, Inc. in 2018. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist at ALSTEM, INC.

Tao Zhang obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Fudan University between 1982 and 1986. Tao then went on to earn a Postgraduate Diploma in Fermentation Engineering from the Wuxi Institute of Light Industry between 1986 and 1988. Finally, they earned a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology, Membrane Transport from the National University of Singapore between 1995 and 2000.
