Job Summary:  The overall goal of the Inventory Controller is to coordinate and oversee the inventory of materials per job requirements so that the project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and which attains or exceeds profit goals, while promoting and enhancing client relationships and the company’s image. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Inventory Controller will be primarily involved with performing the following duties and responsibilities.

  • Coordinate and oversee inventory of materials per job site requirements using the master inventory list and/or materials requirement planning system.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy for project site, including transfers and cycle counts.
  • Execute inventory management for on-hand quantity, quantity per location, and part per location at 95%+ accuracy rate.
  • Provide accurate data entry into all Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Verify incoming inventory packing list to match with purchase order request.
  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy and quality standards.
  • Audit receipts of PO’s, put aways, and incoming inventory on a daily basis to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify issues in inventory management procedures and solve problems by suggesting and developing improvements to optimize the inventory control process.
  • Effectively track rates of return from vendors to identify defective items and proactively inform necessary personnel to prevent delays in project.
  • Follow warehouse facility procedures and on-site logistical processes.
  • Oversee continuous improvement of the inventory management tracking system.

                                                  

This position will also require performance of the following duties:

  • Assist project set-up to include obtaining trailer, equipment, required signage and postings, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other items in accordance with company procedures. Demobilize at project end.
  • Participate in applicable meetings.
  • Other duties as required.

Education, Experience, and Licensing/Certifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory control, ERP, logistics, or scheduling.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Valid State-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage time well.

  • Understanding of all applicable local, state, federal (including OSHA), and company safety and environmental regulations, codes, and requirements related to the construction industry; ability to impart knowledge to others.

  • Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated expertise in all Company policies, processes and procedures relevant to the position.

  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.

  • Ability to read and understand project schedules, cost reports, and other construction documents; understanding of contract provisions which address scope of work and design criteria.

  • Working knowledge of all sub trades.

  • Proactive and readily adaptable to changing conditions or demands and ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Professional demeanor and effective interpersonal skills; ability to successfully interface with and to maintain good working relationships with clients, co-workers, managers, subcontractors, vendors, and others.

  • Ability to effectively handle stress and stressful situations.

  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and advanced inventory management software.

  • Proficiency in computers and applicable software, to include Word, Excel and Outlook.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach.
  • Occasionally required to crawl.
  • Frequently lift 10 lbs and occasionally lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Extensive reading from documents and computer. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently and for extended periods.

Work Environment:

  • The majority of the Inventory Controller’s duties and responsibilities take place in the field.
  • Will be exposed to outside weather elements while in the field.
  • May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, and/or airborne particles while in the field.
  • Dress, including proper PPE, is conducive to a building construction environment.
