Don Goonetilleke

Don Goonetilleke has extensive work experience in the field of machine learning and data science. Don is currently working at Alt as a Machine Learning Engineer and Manager, as well as the Director of Machine Learning. Prior to their current roles, Don worked at Opendoor as a Data Scientist. Before transitioning into machine learning, Don worked at Cutler Group LP as an Equity Options Trader/Partner, where they gained experience in options market making, game theory, and behavioral finance, and utilized programming languages such as Python, SQL, and VBA. Don also worked as an intern at State Street Global Advisors, where they conducted research on active equity trading strategy and developed a distance model and forecast for portfolio construction. Don started their career as an Actuarial Pension Consultant at MacQuarrie & Associates INC, where they created valuation models, tracking models, and benefit calculation models for pension funds.

Don Goonetilleke earned an Associate's degree in Mathematics from Fullerton College from 2003 to 2005. Don then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Mathematical Sciences at UC Santa Barbara from 2005 to 2007. Later, in 2011 and 2012, they attended the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, where they obtained a Master's degree in Financial Engineering.
