Richard Virgo

Richard Virgo is an experienced Engineering Designer with a strong focus on safety, traffic, and signage. Currently serving as an Engineering Designer III at Alta Planning + Design since July 2022, Richard specializes in Vision Zero Action Plans and multimodal concept designs. Prior to this, Richard held various engineering roles at NCDOT from June 2018 to July 2022, including Junior Corridor Development Engineer and Transportation Engineer, where responsibilities included project management, traffic analysis, and GIS work. Richard's early experiences include a Civil Design Intern position at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and an undergraduate research assistantship at Georgia Institute of Technology, where foundational skills in infrastructure asset management and data analysis were developed. Richard holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
