James Shively

GIS Technical Lead at Altamira

James Shively, GISP has a solid work experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). James started their career as an Associate Planner (GIS Analyst) at the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission in 1999. From there, they moved on to the State of Michigan in 2000, where they worked as a Departmental Analyst (Geographic Specialist) until 2008. Following that, they joined CACI International Inc as a GIS Analyst and worked there until 2013.

In 2013, James took on the role of a Senior GIS Analyst at Altamira Technologies Corporation*, where they worked for six years until 2019. James then transitioned to Radiance Technologies, where they served as a GIS Developer for a year until 2020.

Currently, James is working at Altamira Technologies Corporation as a GIS Technical Lead since September 2020. Throughout their career, they have gained extensive expertise in GIS analysis, development, and leadership roles.

James Shively, GISP has an extensive education history in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). James earned a Master's Degree in GIS from Penn State University from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed a Postbaccalaureate Certificate in GIS at the same university from 2015 to 2016.

Before pursuing higher education, Shively obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Geography from Central Michigan University from 1997 to 1999. James also holds an Associate's Degree in Geology/Earth Science from Weber State University, where they studied from 1994 to 1997.

Additionally, Shively has a background in General Studies from the University of Wyoming, where they completed their studies from 1988 to 1989.

In terms of certifications, Shively obtained the ArcGIS Desktop Associate 10.1 certification from Esri in April 2014. James is also a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), certified by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) in June 2009.
