Ali Rafiei

Ali Rafiei is an Associate Machine Learning Developer at AltaML since September 2025, and a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Alberta since September 2021, where responsibilities include serving as a Teaching Assistant for multiple computer science courses. Prior experience includes a role as a Full Stack Developer, where project management led to the creation of a survey submission platform that significantly improved productivity, and a position as a Software Engineer at Vipo.ai, focusing on real-time speech-to-text applications and optimizing API performance. Ali's earlier experience as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor at YMCA Canada involved developing instructional materials and teaching swimming to various age groups. Educationally, Ali holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the same field at the University of Alberta, expected to complete in August 2026.
