Gavin Mackay

Gavin Mackay has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Gavin started their career in 1991 at Pi Shurlok as a Development Engineer, where they designed and developed alarm and immobilizer systems, as well as OBCs for major vehicle manufacturers. Gavin then moved to Tellumat in 2000 and worked as a Software Development Engineer, where they designed and developed a telecommunication accounting package system using Delphi. Gavin also developed a large SQL database for the system. In 2004, they returned to Pi Shurlok as a Senior Development Engineer, managing a team and developing products from concept to production. Gavin developed an OBC for a major international vehicle manufacturer and traveled extensively to test and implement the product. In 2006, they joined MiX Telematics as a Principal Engineer, where they managed a small team of developers. Gavin contributed to the development of recovery, tracking, and fleet management products, and designed a low-cost RF recovery product using innovative technology. In 2020, they became the owner of EMB Electronics, specializing in embedded firmware and working as a contract engineer. Lastly, in 2021, they joined Netstar as a Senior Engineer.

Gavin Mackay attended Durban University of Technology from 1986 to 1989, where they pursued their National Higher Diploma in Electronic Engineering. Additionally, they also have some experience at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, although specific details regarding the degree and field of study are unavailable.
