Olaf Wernicke

VP of Quality at Altitude Energy Partners

Olaf Wernicke has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. In 1990, they began their career at Baker Hughes as a Product/Sustaining Engineer, responsible for enhancing the quality and reliability of Downhole Drilling Systems. Olaf then went on to become a QA/QC and Reliability Manager, overseeing the technical introduction of new generation drilling motors into the Western Canadian Oil & Gas drilling market. Following this, they served as the Repair & Maintenance Manager, managing all aspects of repair and maintenance of drilling products in Canada.

In 2007, Wernicke transitioned to the role of HSE Engineering Manager at Baker Hughes, where they developed company building standards based on ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001. Olaf also worked on green building standards and ergonomic furniture selections. In 2010, they joined Weatherford as the Manager of Quality & Reliability for North America, responsible for implementing and maintaining an integrated management system based on ISO 9001, 14001, OSHA 18001, and API Spec Q2 requirements. During their time at Weatherford, they received extensive training and certifications in various quality and risk management disciplines.

In 2014, Wernicke became an Independent Consultant at Avant-Garde Consulting, offering guidance in the development and implementation of quality management systems based on ISO and API standards. Olaf also conducted reliability engineering and implemented corrective and preventive actions for various drilling and coring projects.

From 2015 to 2017, Wernicke served as the Director of QHSE at Dan-Loc Group, successfully developing and implementing an integrated quality management system based on API Spec Q1 requirements. Olaf achieved ISO 9001-2015 and API Spec Q1 certification, including monogram programs for API Spec 6A and 20E.

In 2018, Wernicke took on the roles of VP of Quality and VP QHSSE at Altitude Energy Partners, where they focused on quality management and health, safety, security, and environment concerns.

Throughout their career, Wernicke has shown a strong background in quality management systems, reliability engineering, and implementing corrective and preventive actions in various industries. Olaf also has experience in supporting plant layout and facility design processes and implementing Lean Six Sigma transformations.

Olaf Wernicke obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Technical University Dresden in Germany from 1985 to 1989. Olaf further pursued their education in the same field and obtained a Master's Degree from Technical University - Dresden, Germany for the academic year 1989 to 1990. In 2012, Olaf Wernicke attended Weatherford International in partnership with API, SAI-QMI-Global, and ASQ, where they received a Certification as a Certified Petrochemical Quality Professional.
