Ian Samuel

Ian Samuel serves as Senior Assistant General Counsel at Altria since January 2024. Previously, Ian held the position of Senior Director & Associate General Counsel at NJOY from April 2020 to December 2023, where responsibilities included overseeing product development, regulatory approval, and litigation management, contributing to NJOY's acquisition for $2.75 billion. Ian's academic experience includes roles as Associate Professor of Law at Indiana University Maurer School of Law and Climenko Fellow and Lecturer in Law at Harvard Law School, focusing on cybersecurity and civil procedure. Prior positions include Senior Associate at Jones Day, law clerk for Justice Antonin Scalia at the Supreme Court, and representation of the U.S. Department of Justice in appellate matters. Ian holds a JD from New York University School of Law and a BS in Computer Science from Truman State University.
