Matthew Piper, EIT, is an experienced engineer currently working at Altria as an Engineer I in the Engineering Innovative Products Group since June 2020. Prior internship experiences include time at Philip Morris as an Undergraduate Intern in 2019 and Altria in 2018 focusing on Innovative Product Development. Matthew contributed as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Engineering from 2017 to 2018, engaging in 3D printing and Formula SAE projects. Additional research experience includes working with the Bio-interfaced NanoEngineering Group at VCU, where notable projects involved developing a wearable ECG device and co-authoring a publication for Nature Communications. Matthew holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics from Virginia Commonwealth University, where dual enrollment credits in engineering were also completed. Matthew possesses a strong foundation in both practical and research-based engineering applications.
