Alverno Laboratories
Chris Walker has extensive work experience in the medical laboratory field. They started their career in 2005 at Quest Diagnostics, where they worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist for three years. At Quest Diagnostics, they performed various tests and gained skills in operating chemistry analysis instruments.
In 2014, Chris joined Sinai Health System as a Trauma Technician, where they worked directly with the Emergency department staff and assisted in managing patient care for various medical conditions and traumas.
In 2017, Chris took on the role of a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Sinai Chicago, where they performed diagnostic testing on blood specimens and issued blood products. They also served as a System Supervisor, overseeing testing competencies and policies for Point of Care Testing. Later, Chris became a System Manager, focusing on Clinical Integration & Implementation.
Currently, Chris is working as the Laboratory Director at Alverno Laboratories, a position they started in September 2021.
Chris Walker earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Health Care Management from the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago. This educational journey took place from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, Chris attended Xavier University School of Medicine, where they completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from 2008 to 2012. Chris began their higher education at Ithaca College from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences.
Alverno Laboratories
Alverno Laboratories manages 32 hospital laboratories and provides laboratory services to two free standing emergency departments and thousands of physician offices and other clients in the Midwest. Alverno has been providing outreach laboratory services in the northern Indiana communities since the laboratory was originally built in 1999. Alverno has more than twenty-five patient service centers, with the number expected to grow. Alverno has a state-of-the-art central laboratory and is one of the largest regional laboratories in the Midwest. Alverno exhibits a culture of customer service, highly reliable clinical and anatomic pathology testing with a focus on providing excellent laboratory service for the communities we serve. In addition to the more than 350 laboratory professionals at the Hammond facility and over 2,100 laboratory professionals system wide, Pathology Consultants, Inc. has five full time M.D. Pathologists providing anatomic pathology service and medical directorship at the central laboratory and about twenty pathologists throughout the Alverno system. The Alverno central laboratory became ISO 15189:2012 certified in 2015. We are proud of this accomplishment and credit our exceptional employees for achieving this certification.
