Since 1993, Dr. Becker has been a professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University where he teaches courses on physician performance, healthcare management, and conflict negotiations. Prior to his appointment at Emory University, he was on the faculties of Vanderbilt University, the University of Colorado, and Harvard University.
His 40-year career has focused on measuring and evaluating healthcare resource use, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. Over his career, he has been an advisor to many major healthcare payers, academic medical centers, and wellness service providers on approaches for assessing, modifying, and implementing effective and efficient patient healthcare strategies.
Dr. Becker’s undergraduate training is in mathematics and sociology from Westminster College. He received his Master’s degree in Sociology from Ohio University in 1973 and his Doctorate in Medical Sociology from Vanderbilt University in 1981. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles.
