Amatola Water

Amatola Water was established in 1998 as a service delivery partner to local and district municipalities in the Eastern Cape Province in order to realize Government’s constitutional obligation of providing potable water and sanitation services for all. The organization prides itself on being the service provider for a variety of services, with water abstraction, purification and bulk supply of potable water to urban, peri-urban and rural settlements as its core business. These activities are supported by related supply services to local municipalities, including the supply of untreated water and limited retail reticulation of potable water. Amatola Water’s customer base comprises consumers located within the jurisdiction of 17 local municipalities situated within the four district municipalities. This service area represents an estimated population of 2,47 million people from 2457 rural villages and around 38 cities and towns.
