Michael Zhang

Michael Zhang is an Applied Scientist at Amazon since June 2025, focusing on research in optimization, deep learning, and robotics. Prior experience includes serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at Vector Institute from September 2018 to October 2024, where research on deep learning was conducted under the guidance of Jimmy Ba. In early 2023, Michael taught an introductory machine learning course to over 200 undergraduates at the University of Toronto. Additional internships at Tesla, Google, LinkedIn, and Workday provided practical experience in areas such as self-driving technology, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, and data science. Michael's educational background includes a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and a Master's from UC Berkeley, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the same institution.
