Maryam Moarefian, PhD has a diverse work experience in biomedical engineering, postdoctoral research, and teaching. Maryam is currently a Senior Biomedical Engineer at Amberstone Biosciences, a role they have held since 2022. Prior to this, they were a Postdoctoral Scholar at Keck Graduate Institute from 2021 to 2020. From 2020 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Virginia Tech, where they developed protein electro spray and 3D cell culture micro fluidics for mass spectrometry, and modeled microfluidic flows in miniturized devices. During this time, they also held the roles of Graduate Teaching Assistant, Lead Teaching Assistant, Training Facilitator, Graduate Research Scholar, and Graduate Student Researcher. From 2013 to 2015, Maryam was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at Tennessee Technological University, where they published an article in the Journal of Mathematical Biosciences and researched computational modeling of a cancerous system.
Maryam Moarefian, PhD has a comprehensive educational background. From 2009 to 2013, they completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Urmia University of Technology. Maryam then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, which they completed in 2015. In 2020, they received a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Additionally, they obtained a Future Professoriate Graduate Certificate from the Virginia Tech Graduate School in 2019 and two certificates from the CITI Program in 2022: Basic Responsible Conduct of Research Course and RCR: Faculty, Staff and Students.
