Carlos Morales

Carlos Morales has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over three decades in the technology industry. Carlos currently holds the position of Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at Ambiq since October 2021.

Before joining Ambiq, Morales spent a significant portion of their career at Intel Corporation, where they held various roles. From May 2019 to October 2021, they served as the General Manager and Senior Director of the AI Software Group, leading a team of 100-150 developers responsible for projects such as nGraph, Nauta, DL Profiler, Nervana DL Cloud, and OpenVINO Model Server. Prior to that, from August 2016 to October 2021, Morales held the position of Senior Director of Deep Learning Systems at Intel and was a member of the AI Product Group Executive Staff. In this role, they led and managed a team of 50-60 engineers focused on solving system-level AI problems, primarily in the Kubernetes space.

Morales also has experience working at Nervana, a company acquired by Intel in 2016. Carlos served as the Platform Architect and Director for Deep Learning Systems at Nervana, where they were responsible for developing and managing Nervana Cloud, a co-hosted DLaaS public cloud offering.

Prior to their roles at Intel and Nervana, Morales worked at Cisco as a Software Architect in the Fog Computing and CyberSecurity domains. Their responsibilities included collaborating with top Fellows and Distinguished Engineers on technologies with a 2 to 5-year horizon. Carlos also worked at Auroranetics, Alteon WebSystems (acquired by Nortel), Adaptec, Infineon Technologies, and IBM in various engineering and technical roles.

Throughout their career, Morales has demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams, designing and delivering software, organizational planning, budgeting, and coordinating with partners and customers. Carlos has expertise in artificial intelligence, deep learning systems, cloud computing, and embedded platform infrastructure security.

Carlos Morales attended the University of Puerto Rico from 1986 to 1991, where they pursued a degree in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Carlos earned a BSEE degree upon completion of their studies.
