Susan Cotter has been a Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry, Marshall B. Ketchum University since July 1997. Susan is currently serving as the President of the American Academy of Optometry starting from October 2022. Additionally, they are serving as the Co-Chair of the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) at the Jaeb Center for Health Research since January 2019.
Susan Cotter attended Loyola University Chicago from 1975 to 1979 where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a field of study in Biology. Susan then went on to study at the Illinois College of Optometry from 1979 to 1983, and obtained a Doctor of Optometry degree. In 1983, Cotter enrolled at the Southern California College of Optometry for a residency in Children's Vision, which they completed in 1984. Later, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Clinical & Biomedical Investigations from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California between 2004 and 2006.
