Ray DuBois

Editor In Chief of Cancer Prevention Research at American Association For Cancer Research

Ray DuBois has a diverse work experience in the field of cancer research and healthcare. Ray is currently serving as the Associate Provost for Cancer Programs at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where they are responsible for overseeing cancer programs and initiatives. Ray also serves as the Director of the Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC, which is the only NCI-designated Cancer Center in South Carolina. In addition, they hold the position of Distinguished University Professor in the Departments of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology & Medicine at MUSC.

Previously, Ray DuBois served as the Dean of the College of Medicine at MUSC, where they played a key role in the institution's growth and development. Ray also has experience working in the non-profit sector, as the Executive Chair of the Board for The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research. This organization funds groundbreaking cancer research projects and partnerships.

Ray DuBois has been involved with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), holding various leadership positions within the organization. Ray served as the Editor In Chief of Cancer Prevention Research, one of the nine peer-reviewed journals published by AACR. Ray was also a Fellow of the AACR Academy and a member of the AACR Academy Steering Committee. Additionally, they served as the President and Chair of the AACR Foundation Board, which supports cancer research initiatives.

Apart from their work in the research field, Ray DuBois has served as a member of the Board of Directors for First Capital Bank and the Scientific Advisory Council of Stand Up To Cancer. Ray was also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Robert J. Kleberg, Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation.

Earlier in their career, Ray DuBois held several positions at prestigious institutions such as Mayo Clinic, where they were a Professor of Medicine, and the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University, where they served as the Executive Director.

Prior to that, they were the Provost, Executive Vice President, and Ellen F. Knisely Distinguished Chair at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Ray was responsible for overseeing research, education, faculty development, and the MD Anderson Global Academic Oncology enterprise.

Ray DuBois also had the opportunity to contribute to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, as a member.

Overall, Ray DuBois has been extensively involved in cancer research, education, and leadership roles throughout their career, making significant contributions to the field.

Ray DuBois completed their Bachelor of Science (BS Honors) degree in Biochemistry at Texas A&M University from 1974 to 1977. Ray then pursued a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at UT Southwestern Medical Center, which they completed in 1981. Following that, they attended UT Health San Antonio from 1981 to 1985, where they obtained their M.D. degree in Medicine. In 1999, Ray participated in the VUMC Management Development Program at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management, specializing in Business Administration and Management, Finance.
