Gretchen Gillis

Gretchen Gillis has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of geology. Gretchen started their career as a Geologist at Maxus in 1989 and worked there until 1996. Gretchen then joined AAPG as an Editor from 2007 to 2010. Following that, they worked at Schlumberger as an Editorial Manager and Oilfield Review Editor from 1997 to 2010, and later as an Editorial Advisor from 2010 to 2010. In 2016, Gillis served as the Chair of the Board of Directors at GeoScienceWorld for a three-year term. From 2018 to 2020, they were a Director at the SEG Foundation, where they chaired the nominating committee. Since 2021, Gillis has been involved with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) in various leadership positions, including President and 2022-2023 AAPG Past President. Additionally, they are currently an Advisory Council Member at The University of Texas at Austin. Gillis also has experience working at Aramco as a Senior Geological Consultant, where they oversaw technical studies and technology development for upstream exploration and production.

In addition to their formal education, Gretchen has obtained several certifications throughout their career. Gretchen acquired a Geology License from the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists in an unspecified year. Gretchen also holds the title of Certified Petroleum Geologist from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Division of Professional Affairs and Certified Professional Geologist from the American Institute of Professional Geologists, although no specific dates are provided for these certifications.

Furthermore, Gretchen has recently completed the Women on Boards program at the Yale School of Management in June 2023, enhancing their knowledge and skills in this field.
