Catherine Copeland has worked as the Director of the American Democracy Project at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) since July 2021. Prior to that, they were the Program Coordinator for the American Democracy Project at the same organization starting from February 2020. Before joining AASCU, Catherine served as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor and Arboretum Education Coordinator at James Madison University from August 2010 to May 2021. Catherine'searlier experience includes working as an Editor at Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences at Cadmus Communications from October 2004 to August 2006.
Catherine Copeland obtained their Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from Hanover College between the years 1998 and 2002. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in English Literature (British and Commonwealth) at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis from 2002 to 2004. Lastly, they enrolled in The University of Alabama to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD); however, the end year of their PhD program is unspecified.
