Axel Drefahl

Axel Drefahl is a highly experienced chemist with a diverse background in cheminformatics, molecular modeling, and metallurgical research. Currently serving as a Senior Chemist at American Battery Technology Company since April 2019, Axel contributes to developing a clean technology platform for battery metals and promoting sustainable sourcing. Previously, as a Senior Scientist and the founder of the CurlySMILES Project at Axeleratio, Axel has driven innovative research in cheminformatics. Experience also includes roles as a Metallurgical Research Scientist at Cycladex, Inc., and a Metallurgical Assay Chemist at Comstock Mining Inc., where Axel focused on environmentally friendly extraction techniques and data processing. Academic contributions stem from positions at Freiberg University of Mining and Technology and Stanford University, grounded in a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Munich and a diploma from The University of Göttingen.
