Megan Daum

Vice President, Sustainability at American Beverage

Megan Daum has a strong background in sustainability, with their most recent role as the Vice President of Sustainability at the American Beverage Association (ABA). In this position, they defined the industry's strategic direction for environmental and climate policies, advised lawmakers and stakeholders as a subject matter expert, and led the industry's Environment and Sustainability Committee. Megan also oversaw the industry's Every Bottle Back initiative, a $100 million investment in partnership with organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund and The Recycling Partnership. Before joining ABA, they held various positions at the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), including Vice President and Director of Sustainability. At CMI, Megan managed and developed the environmental policy framework for the metal industry, both domestically and internationally. Prior to their work at CMI, they taught English at CESJDS high school.

Megan Daum pursued their education in English Language and Literature. Megan obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Megan furthered their academic pursuits at the University of Vermont, where they attended from 2000 to 2002 and earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in English Language and Literature.

The American Beverage Association is the trade association that represents America's non-alcoholic beverage industry. ABA was founded in 1919 as the American Bottlers of Carbonated Beverages, and renamed the National Soft Drink Association in 1966. Today the ABA represents hundreds of beverage producers, distributors, franchise companies and support industries. Together, they bring to market hundreds of brands, flavors and packages, including regular and diet soft drinks, bottled water and water beverages, 100 percent juice and juice drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks and ready-to-drink teas.
