Doug Lathrop

Doug Lathrop currently serves as Vice President at the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) since December 2024. Prior to this role, Doug was Vice President for Government Affairs at New York Life Insurance Company from August 2008 to December 2024. Doug’s career includes a position as Director of Government Affairs at EDS (January 2006 - August 2008), and Legislative Director for a congresswoman in the U.S. House of Representatives (January 2001 - January 2006), managing a team of legislative assistants and coordinating briefings. Doug also held the position of Director at the American Legislative Exchange Council (1999 - 2001), where responsibilities included writing position papers on state tax policy and developing meeting agendas. Early in the career, Doug served as an editorial assistant for Congressional Quarterly (1993 - 1994). Doug Lathrop holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Master of Arts in Legislative Affairs from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Connecticut.
