Gaurav Raniwala is Managing Director and Global Head of Renewable Energy at GE Energy Financial Services (“GE EFS”). GE EFS is part of GE’s energy portfolio, which operates across more than 180 countries and includes GE’s Renewable Energy, Power and Digital businesses, and a leading tax equity investor in the U.S. and with experience investing more than $19 billion in renewable energy since 2004. In his role, Gaurav leads the team responsible for underwriting, structuring, and managing investments in global renewable projects. He also serves on the Board of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE).
Gaurav has a wealth of expertise in underwriting energy investments, including equity and loan transactions, and in leading multi-national and cross-cultural teams. Prior to his current role, Gaurav held the position of Business Partner at GE EFS, where he utilized his extensive underwriting expertise to facilitate financing solutions for GE Renewable Energy equipment projects and help the GE business unit grow its global market share. Prior to that, Gaurav led the US power and renewable energy underwriting team responsible for structuring, negotiating, and managing energy transactions.
Gaurav joined GE in 1995. During his time at GE, he served as Chief Risk Officer of GE Capital’s Franchise Finance business based in Scottsdale, where he had oversight of leveraged lending and sale leaseback business. He also spent more than five years in the United Kingdom and in Spain and led the telecom and media underwriting team for GE Capital Europe.
Gaurav has a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and a Bachelor’s of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in India.
