American Councils
Irwin Weil has a long history of working in language learning and education. Irwin started out as an English teacher in 1993 and later became a web trog, producing multimedia content and web-based language learning activities for Persian and Uzbek. In 1996, they joined the United States Peace Corps as a volunteer, where they taught English teacher training in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. After their time with the Peace Corps, they returned to the United States and started working at the University of Washington as a web trog. Irwin has been working as a board member at American Councils since December 1997.
Irwin Weil obtained a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Georgetown University, an MA in Near Eastern Languages and Theirtory from the University of Washington, and a BA in English Literature/Education from Thiel College.
