Sean Twombly

Sean Twombly is a seasoned leader in membership and engagement with extensive experience in non-profit organizations. Currently serving as the Director of Membership, Outreach, and Engagement at the American Educational Research Association since January 2022, Sean Twombly previously held the position of Executive Director with the Montgomery Cheetahs, overseeing a volunteer ice hockey program for children with developmental disabilities since 2007. From September 2012 to June 2021, Sean Twombly directed Pi Sigma Alpha, managing a significant national organization with a budget of $600,000 and an endowment of $1.5 million, while also implementing strategies for operational efficiency and membership growth. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Member Services, Development, and Technology at the American Political Science Association, where Sean Twombly focused on recruitment and retention for an 8,000-member organization. Sean Twombly earned a BA in Political Science and Government from Syracuse University and studied at Lyndon Institute.
