David Moloney started his career in 1985 working as a Senior IC Design Engineer at Infineon (formerly Siemens Halbleiter AG). David then joined ST Microelectronics in 1990 as a Principal Design Engineer, where they were a founder member of the hard-disk R/W channel IC development team. David worked at ST Microelectronics for four years before moving to CEVA, Inc. in 1994. At CEVA, they served as a Technical Director and played a crucial role in developing the Bluetooth platform from concept to a viable IP product. David also built a team from the ground up for embedded software and hardware. In 2003, he joined Silansys Semiconductor as a Consultant, where he contributed to the development of the SW MoMedia MIDI synthesizer and participated in the company's acquisition by Frontier Silicon. David then joined Movidius in 2005 as co-founder and CTO. David built the team and defined the architecture for Movidius' first and second generation SoC products. David also played a key role in the acquisition of Movidius by Intel. Currently, he is working as the Chief Scientist at Ubotica Technologies since 2021.
David Moloney earned a PhD in Engineering from Trinity College Dublin from 2003 to 2010. Prior to that, he obtained a B. Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University from 1980 to 1985. In addition to his academic achievements, David has also obtained various certifications including being a Certified IJA Level 1 Judo coach from the Irish Judo Association. David has also received certifications in sports safeguarding, CPR, and child welfare and protection.
