Kate (Hansen) Mabbett is a cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in risk management, compliance, and education. Currently serving as the Director of Cyber Risk and Compliance at American Electric Power since October 2022, Kate also holds the position of Director of Security Policy and Strategy. Prior to this, Kate was an Adjunct Professor of Cyber Operations at the University of Arizona, where teaching focused on critical topics such as cyber espionage and warfare. Kate's past roles include Vice President of Customer Success at IronNet Cybersecurity, Senior Cyber Intelligence Officer at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and Branch Chief at the United States Department of Defense. Academically, Kate holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland Global Campus, along with two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Kentucky in Arabic and Islamic Studies and International Relations and Affairs, and an earlier Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature from the University of Iowa.
