Tammara D. Porter

Tammara D. Porter serves as Senior Counsel at American Electric Power, beginning December 2020 as the first in-house counsel licensed in Indiana for this high-revenue operating company. In this role, Tammara has effectively reduced outside counsel expenses by managing regulatory compliance filings internally for Indiana and Michigan. Prior experience includes serving as a Litigation Associate at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, where Tammara represented clients in various legal matters, as well as a Student Attorney with the Missouri State Public Defender, where Tammara provided legal counsel and representation. Earlier roles include summer law clerk at St. Louis City Drug Court and news producer at KTVT-TV CBS 11, KOB-TV Channel 4, and WKOW-TV, gaining extensive experience in strategic communications and audience engagement. Tammara holds a Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
