Michael Nicewarner

Senior Data Architect at American Equity

Michael Nicewarner has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over three decades. Michael began their career in 1986 as a Programmer/Analyst in the US Air Force, where they worked on various mainframe and PC-based systems. After leaving the Air Force in 1990, Nicewarner worked as a Programmer/Analyst at Woodmen Accident and Life, where they utilized languages such as dBASE and FoxPro to solve business problems.

In 1994, Nicewarner joined Gateway 2000 as a Database Administrator, where they were responsible for overseeing database management tasks. Michael then moved on to IBP/Tyson Foods in 1996, where they served as a Data Administrator. In this role, they acted as a mediator between development, project management, and operations, implementing database design standards and managing the metadata repository.

Nicewarner's career took a new direction in 1998 when they founded DataModel.Org, a company they ran until 2009. During their time at DataModel.Org, they served as the President and managed a mailing list, contributing to the data modeling community.
