William Backer

William Backer has a significant work experience in finance and accounting roles. William is currently the Head of Reinsurance Accounting at American Equity since June 2023. Prior to this, they served as a Member of the Board of Trustees at EveryStep from February 2021. From May 2020 to May 2023, they worked at Sammons Financial Group as the AVP of Investment Analysis & Reporting. Before that, they held the positions of VP of Finance and Corporate Controller, as well as Corporate Controller at Technical Solutions Holdings from 2018 to 2020. From October 2014 to May 2018, they were the Director of Investment Accounting at Athene USA. William began their career at Ernst & Young in July 2008, serving as a Manager of FSO Assurance until September 2014.

William Backer attended Drake University from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Accounting and Finance. Additionally, during the same period, they also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in International Relations and Affairs from Drake University.
