Steven Austad

Steven Austad has a diverse work experience. Since 2014, they have been working as a Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Biology Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2015, they also took on the role of a Science Writer at AL.com. Additionally, since 2014, they have served as the Scientific Director at the American Federation for Aging Research.

Steven Austad received their Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature, General from the University of California, Los Angeles in the years 1964-1969. Steven then pursued further studies and obtained another Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from California State University Northridge between 1974 and 1976. Finally, they completed their education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Sciences from Purdue University from 1976 to 1981.
