Denise Lewis Patrick serves as an Adjunct Instructor at both Northwestern State University and Western Connecticut State University since September 2021. Additionally, Denise holds the position of Author at American Girl since 2011, with a portfolio that includes fiction novels featuring contemporary and historical African American characters. Notable works include "See Me, Hear Me, Know Me," "No Ordinary Sound," and "Never Stop Singing." Denise authored "A Matter of Souls," a collection of Young Adult short stories recognized by Kirkus Review and Bank Street. Previous experience includes roles as an Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University, an Adjunct Writing Instructor at Nyack College, and Writing Program Manager at Glenfield Middle School, along with earlier editorial and writing positions at various publications and educational companies. Denise earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
