Mark Foster

Mark Foster has extensive experience in the legal field, particularly in real estate. Mark currently serves as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel at American Healthcare REIT, where they provide strategic and legal counsel to the executive management team and oversees legal issues related to portfolio assets, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, operations, litigation, and risk management.

Prior to their role at American Healthcare REIT, Foster worked at Snell & Wilmer as a Partner. In this position, they focused on representing institutional owners, operators, developers, financial institutions, and investors in various real estate-related matters, including equity investments, joint venture formations, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, lending, and debt restructuring. Mark also had significant experience in land use representation before local jurisdictions.

Before Snell & Wilmer, Foster served as the Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of Sabal Financial Group LP. As a member of the Executive Team, they were responsible for all legal aspects of the company's corporate and business operations. This included corporate planning/governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, litigation management, intellectual property, contract administration, human resources, and the implementation of a scalable legal and operational framework.

Foster also has prior experience as Senior Counsel at The Rockefeller Group, where they advised senior executives on legal matters related to existing assets and potential investment opportunities. Their responsibilities included designing and implementing complex deal structures, assessing risks, providing practical advice on regulatory and contractual issues, overseeing project-specific matters, managing outside counsel for litigation, and handling labor, employment, and corporate matters.

Earlier in their career, Foster worked as a Regional Counsel at Toll Brothers, advising senior management on legal matters affecting the company's California Region. Their responsibilities included drafting and negotiating various agreements related to land acquisitions, entitlements, development, financing, and homebuyer contracts.

Foster began their legal career as a Real Estate Attorney at Allen Matkins, representing national and regional real estate users and developers in various transactions, including acquisitions, entitlements, development, leasing, and dispositions. Mark also had experience in title insurance, land use, zoning, and finance.

Mark Foster attended the University of Southern California from 1991 to 1995, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in International Relations and Affairs. Mark then continued their education at the University of Southern California from 1995 to 1998, obtaining a Doctor of Law (JD) degree. In addition to their formal education, Mark Foster has also obtained the certification of Real Estate Broker - Broker Of Rec, Off, Partnership & Corp from the California Department of Real Estate.
