Tom Mefford has extensive experience in public safety and emergency response, currently serving as a Public Safety Dispatcher for the Scituate RI Police Department since August 2020. Mefford has been a CPR, AED, and First Aid Instructor with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association since June 2013, providing training for classes of all sizes. Additionally, Mefford has held roles as an EMT/C in Rhode Island since November 1987, and previously served as a Public Safety Officer at the Rhode Island School of Design from December 2007 to August 2020. Mefford's law enforcement experience includes a decade as a Lieutenant and Shift Commander at Bryant University and time with the Smithfield Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer. Military service includes four years as a Security Police Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Early career experience encompasses work as a Police Dispatcher for the Cumberland Police Department.
