Louella Hung

Director, Quality at American Hospital Association

Louella Hung has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations. Louella began their career in 2002 as the Outreach Director at Healthy Schools Campaign, where they secured a $1M grant and coordinated the writing of a guide for healthy schools. Louella then joined the American Medical Association Foundation in 2004 as a Program Officer, where they supervised a team and established funding criteria for programs. In 2011, they joined the American Hospital Association as a Program Manager, where they managed large national programs and achieved significant reductions in infection rates. In 2012, they were promoted to Senior Program Manager, overseeing content development and coaching a team. Most recently, Louella worked as the Director of Quality at the American Hospital Association, where they had accountability for development, workflow, and disciplinary actions.

Louella Hung earned a Master's degree in the History of Public Health and Medicine from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Honors Biology, with a Minor in Chemistry, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1996 to 2000. Louella also holds additional certifications, including Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) from the Healthcare Quality Certification Commission, obtained in 2019, and a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer certification obtained in 2015.
