Aleksis Kincaid

Aleksis Kincaid, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience in the field of education. Aleksis currently holds the position of Senior Researcher at the American Institutes for Research, where they started in April 2023. Prior to this role, they worked as a Researcher at the same organization from September 2021 to April 2023.

Before joining the American Institutes for Research, Dr. Kincaid served as an Adjunct Faculty - School Psychology at the University of Wisconsin from January 2021 to May 2022.

From 2017 to 2021, they worked at New Richmond Public Schools, holding multiple roles. Aleksis started as a District RtI Coordinator/School Psychologist in June 2017 and served in this position until May 2019. In this role, they led training on intervention assessment systems, developed data team processes, and implemented positive behavioral support interventions for students requiring additional supports. Aleksis then became the Department Head - Secondary Special Services in August 2018, where they coordinated staff development initiatives, facilitated professional learning activities, and coordinated accommodated testing sessions for state testing. From June 2019 to August 2021, they worked as the District MTSS Coordinator, responsible for coordinating multi-tiered systems of support within the district.

Dr. Kincaid also has experience as a Consultant at the Minnesota Department of Human Services from June 2015 to July 2018. In this role, they evaluated early childhood curricula and assessments for alignment with state indicators of progress and provided feedback to DHS staff and original publishers.

During their time at Mahtomedi Public Schools from September 2016 to June 2017, Dr. Kincaid worked as a School Psychology Intern.

Before that, they held positions at the University of Minnesota. From August 2014 to August 2016, they were a Graduate Research Assistant. In this role, they created and revised technical and training materials, analyzed data on child development, and conducted longitudinal growth modeling. Aleksis also served as a Special Education Practicum Supervisor from September 2015 to January 2016, overseeing undergraduate students' practicum experiences.

Dr. Kincaid began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the National Center on Educational Outcomes from August 2012 to August 2014. In this role, they collected and analyzed state policy on accommodations for students with disabilities and coordinated a team of graduate students.

Finally, they were a True North AmeriCorps Member - Student Success Advocate from September 2011 to September 2012 as part of the True North AmeriCorps program.

Aleksis Kincaid, Ph.D. obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota. They also earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Educational Psychology, also from the University of Minnesota. Prior to their graduate studies, Aleksis received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology and Sociology from The College of St. Scholastica. Additionally, they have obtained additional certifications including being a WWC Certified Reviewer (v4.1) from the What Works Clearinghouse, and holding a lifetime license as a Licensed School Psychologist (PK-12) from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, which they obtained in June 2020.
