Isela Melendez-Carpio, M.Ed. has a diverse range of work experience. Isela started their career in 2010 as a Head Resident at the University of Richmond. From there, they worked as an intern at TESOL International Association in 2012 and as an Emerging Leaders Program Coordinator at Edu-Futuro from 2012 to 2013. Isela then became a Senior Program Officer at Liberty's Promise from 2013 to 2016.

In 2014, they joined the board of directors for Latinas Leading Tomorrow and remained in that role until 2018. In 2016, they became a Career Program Manager at The Posse Foundation until 2018. In 2018, they were a Graduate Intern at McIntire School of Commerce.

From 2019 to 2020, they served as an Assistant Director of Academic & Student Affairs at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy. In 2020, they became the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Lastly, in 2023, they joined the American Institutes for Research as an Employee Resource Group (ERG) Program Manager.

Isela Melendez-Carpio, M.Ed. earned a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from the University of Virginia in 2019. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Richmond from 2008 to 2012, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government.
