Kimberly O'Brien has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Kimberly began their career in 1987 as an Administrative Assistant at Leo Burnett and later transitioned to the role of Account Coordinator. In 2001, they worked as an Editorial Coordinator at IUPUI, where they edited scholarly text and ensured stylistic consistency among manuscripts. From 2003 to 2008, they served as a Senior Project Editor at ETA/Cuisenaire, editing educational products and collaborating with internal departments. Following this, they worked as a Freelance Writer/Editor, writing and editing instructor and student resource material. Kimberly then joined Pearson Education in 2009 as a Writer/Copy Editor, where they were responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading copy for national catalogs. In 2010, they became a Senior Editor at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, managing the editorial production process for their online resources. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Copywriter/Copy Editor/Proofreader at Pearson Education. In 2012, they joined Goodheart-Willcox as an Editor, primarily focusing on health science editorial development. Currently, Kimberly is working at the American Institutes for Research as an Editor/Copyright Law Specialist.

Kimberly O'Brien completed their Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Philosophy from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Later on, they acquired a Copyright for Publishing Professionals Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the Copyright Clearance Center located in Danvers, MA.
