Melia Repko-Erwin

Melia Repko-Erwin, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Melia began their career in 2002 as a K-5 Teacher and Team Lead at Laveen Elementary School District. Melia then joined Stanford University as a Graduate Research Assistant in 2005, followed by a brief position as a Social Science Researcher at SRI International. In 2006, Melia worked as a PreK-8 Education Specialist at Center City Consortium before transitioning to Edison Schools, Inc. as a K-8 Reading Achievement Coordinator & Teacher at Omar D. Blair Charter School. Melia then joined Aurora Public Schools in 2009 and served as a K-5 Literacy Teacher Leader and 3rd Grade Teacher before becoming a Literacy Teacher Coach (PreK-8) from 2011 to 2014. From 2014 to 2019, they held the combined roles of Research Assistant, Instructor, and PhD Student at the University of Colorado Boulder. Melia returned to Aurora Public Schools in 2019 and became a District Instructional Coach (PreK-12, All Content Areas) until 2022 when they became an Assistant Principal. Currently, they are a Researcher at the American Institutes for Research.

Melia Repko-Erwin, Ph.D. completed their education in a chronological order. In 1999, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in English, from Penn State University. Melia then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Education from Stanford University, which they completed in 2006. From 2014 to 2019, Melia attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus on Literacy Studies & Research on Teaching and Teacher Education. Additionally, Melia has obtained certification as a Google Certified Educator from Google in August 2020. Melia also holds a Colorado Professional Teacher's License and a Colorado Principal's License from the Colorado Department of Education.
