Senior Researcher at American Institutes for Research

Taletha Derrington, Ph.D. has had a diverse range of work experiences. Taletha worked as a Senior Researcher at the American Institutes for Research since February 2017. Prior to that, they owned Derrington Early Childhood Research and Policy Consulting, where they provided consulting services for research, program improvement, and policy analysis in public health, early childhood care and education, and child welfare. Taletha also worked as an Early Childhood Researcher and Technical Assistance Specialist at SRI International from December 2012 to September 2016.

Additionally, Taletha has been involved in various academic roles. Taletha was a Visiting Scholar at Brandeis University from July 2012 to July 2013, where they extended analyses of databases and collaborated on policy briefs and publications. Taletha also served as a Doctoral Fellow at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis from August 2009 to May 2012. Further, they worked as a Student Principal Investigator and Research Assistant at the Institute for Child and Family Policy at Brandeis from August 2005 to May 2012.

Taletha's career also includes experiences in a leadership position. Taletha was the President of the Brandeis University Graduate Student Association from 2006 to 2007.

Lastly, they served as a Graduate Fellow at the Zero to Three Academy of Fellows and held roles at the Boston University School of Public Health and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where they focused on maternal and child health.

Taletha Derrington, Ph.D. has a strong educational background. Taletha earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Caltech in 1993. Afterward, they pursued their Master of Arts degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which they completed in 1997. Taletha continued their educational journey and obtained their Ph.D. in Social Policy from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University in 2012.
