Education Systems Researcher at American Institutes for Research

Tia Clinton, PhD, has a diverse range of work experience. Tia is currently working as an Education Systems Researcher at the American Institutes for Research. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Michigan in various roles. As a Research Assistant, they conducted focus group studies and drafted interviewer memos/fieldnotes for the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program. Tia also worked as a Graduate Student Instructor, where they developed and executed lesson plans for Introduction to Sociology and consistently achieved high exam scores. Additionally, they served as a Graduate Student Mentor/Project Intern for the Summer Research Opportunities Program, where they coordinated professional development seminars and advised undergraduate students on their research projects. Tia also worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute for Higher Education Policy and conducted literature reviews and analyzed quantitative data for the evaluation of higher education programs in prison. Prior to their time at the University of Michigan, they worked as an Executive Assistant to the National President at the ACLU and provided administrative and research support. Tia also worked at the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic as a Project Assistant, where they completed grant applications and performed various clerical tasks. Tia's earlier work experience includes roles as an Admissions Officer/Recruiter at Prep for Prep, a Researcher at the University of Cape Coast, and as a Summer Research Opportunities Program Intern at the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University. Throughout their career, Tia has demonstrated skills in research, program evaluation, teaching, and administrative support.

Tia Clinton, PhD, has an extensive education history. Tia began their academic journey in 2002 at Wesleyan University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and American Studies. Tia successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2006.

Afterward, Tia Clinton enrolled at the University of Michigan in 2013, where they focused on Sociology. Tia attained a Master of Arts degree in Sociology in 2015, demonstrating their commitment to furthering their knowledge in the field.

Undeterred by their previous achievements, Tia Clinton continued to pursue their passion for Sociology at the University of Michigan. Tia embarked on a PhD program, dedicating herself to advanced research and scholarly inquiries. Following eight years of rigorous study, Tia Clinton successfully earned their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sociology in 2021, further solidifying their expertise in the field.

In addition to their academic pursuits, Tia Clinton also took the opportunity to study abroad. In 2005, they participated in a semester at The University of Cape Coast. Although the exact focus of their studies during this period is not specified, it provided their with valuable international experience.
