Barbara Kaplan

Barbara Kaplan is a seasoned public health professional with extensive experience in asthma program development and implementation. Currently serving as the National Director of Asthma Programs at the American Lung Association since March 2003, Barbara oversees national health education initiatives related to asthma and air quality, including significant programs such as Breathe Well, Live Well and the Asthma-Friendly School Initiative. Prior to this role, Barbara managed adult asthma programs and provided essential support for the nationwide delivery of educational resources. Earlier experience includes an internship at the DC Area Health Education Center, where Barbara facilitated health education in local schools, and a medical assistant position at the Breast Care Center at George Washington University, contributing to breast health education. Barbara holds a Master of Public Health in Disease Prevention Health Promotion from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of North Texas.
