Israel Neira Leiva has a diverse work experience in the financial sector. Israel began their career as an Analyst of Operational Risks at Banco de la Nacion, where they monitored events that posed a risk to normal activities and provided information to relevant departments for immediate resolution. Israel then moved to Financiera Confianza S.A.A, where they had a successful career in microfinance as a Credit Analyst. Israel evaluated the creditworthiness of micro-entrepreneurs through quantitative and qualitative analysis, and also developed skills in sales and customer service. After that, they joined Cyrano Management S.A. as a Risk Analyst, responsible for monitoring Microfinance Institutions (MFI) and preparing risk reports. Israel evaluated MFIs in Latin American countries and developed investment proposals. Currently, they work at Oikocredit as an Investment Officer, managing a portfolio of Financial Institutions in Peru and Colombia, negotiating with clients, and presenting investment proposals with a financial and social focus. Israel also monitors the microfinance portfolio and supports agricultural project evaluations.

Israel Neira Leiva has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, which they obtained between 2000 and 2006. Israel then pursued a Master's degree in Business Sciences, specializing in Entrepreneurial Sciences, at the same university from 2011 to 2013. In 2014, Israel attended the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management to become a Certified Expert in Microfinance. In 2018, they briefly studied at the Universidad de Alcalá, where they completed a Master's in Microfinance and Social Development.
