Ferdinand van West

Ferdinand van West is a highly experienced naval architect currently serving as Co-Lead Foil Design for American Magic in the 37th America's Cup since October 2021. With a significant tenure at Morrelli Melvin Design & Engineering Inc. since January 2014, Ferdinand has contributed to several key projects, including the design concepts for America's Cup classes and various innovative foiling vessels. Additionally, Ferdinand operates Van West NA, where design, engineering, and sailing projects encompass activities for Nacra Sailing International, including the technical development of Olympic and youth multihull classes. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Maritime Engineering, Yacht Design from the University of Southampton and a Bachelor of Engineering in Maritime Technology from Inholland University of Applied Sciences.
