Ian Nicholson

Ian Nicholson is an experienced outdoor professional with extensive expertise in alpine, rock, and ski guiding, as well as avalanche education. Currently serving as an Instructor Team Member for the American Mountain Guides Association since June 2017, Nicholson also works as a Professional Observer for the Northwest Avalanche Center and has been a Gear Editor for OutdoorGearLab since 2009. Additionally, Nicholson has contributed as a Freelance and Tech Tip writer for Climbing Magazine since 2010 and authored the detailed "Washington Pass Climbing" guidebook. As a Lead Denali Guide for Mountain Trip and an educator for various organizations including Mountain Madness, Northwest Mountain School, and North Cascades Mountain Guides, Nicholson focuses on delivering high-quality experiences in outdoor activities. Nicholson holds an IFMGA/UIAGM Licensed Mountain Guide certification and completed advanced avalanche training from the American Institute of Avalanche Research & Education.
