George Amato

Director Emeritus, Conservation Genomics at American Museum of Natural History

George Amato serves as a Visiting Research Professor at the Tropical Conservation Institute, Florida International University since May 2022. With an extensive background in conservation genomics, George holds the title of Director Emeritus at the American Museum of Natural History, where roles also included Director of Conservation Genomics and Director of the Institute for Comparative Genomics, positions held since December 2005. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Conservation and Science at the Wildlife Conservation Society from January 1989 to June 2005. George earned a Ph.D. in Biology from Yale University (1990-1994) and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Connecticut (1974-1978).
